Clubs and social environment

Please tell us more about the social environment, sports clubs and societies and anything else you think candidates need to know about life at your university.

"There are sports clubs and societies for everything you can think of. I was a member of the yoga society, the debating team and the v-team while friends did Latin, ballroom dancing and rock climbing. The sports societies tend to be quite competitive but they usually have a stream for people who just want to do it for fun too. Joining one of the sports clubs is a great way to meet people through all the socials they hold. The snow ball is fun and for all sports society members. There are also societies for those who don't like nights out such as the film society. The Edge is an arts building that offers dance classes for those who want to continue their ballet etc after coming to university. This caters to all levels at a good price. The bands on campus are very good and allow you to keep playing your instruments throughout uni. The concerts are also great fun if you just enjoy watching any type of live music. There are even open mic nights and quiz nights in the SU, which are a great way to relax with your flatmates."
"There are loads of societies and sports teams. Our sports training village has an Olympic-sized pool that all students can access as well as loads of other facilities and a gym too. The Edge arts centre is very modern and I use the dance studio and arts studios. There's also a theatre with events on all the time."
"Plenty of choice is on offer for sports clubs and societies."
"The university is primarily focused on sports clubs and societies rather than arts or science clubs. The movie or coffee societies, for example, are not as active compared to something like kickboxing or mountaineering."
"There are many great sports clubs and societies to join. However, it would be nice to have more focus on investment in recreational sports teams rather than the stressful competitive teams."

"Tons and tons of clubs! The SU is always super busy with happy hours on a Friday and tons of different open mic and quiz nights in there."
"Some of the sports societies can be very competitive, even if you are looking for something recreational. Perhaps more student nights could be held in the city instead of the union itself."
"It's very sports orientated but subject societies are good too."
"All nightlife in bath is very similar and very busy but if you find the right club for you then it is a great night out. There are countless sports societies and facilities but not a lot of other societies. I'm not interested in sport and didn't see many societies I wanted to join."
"Bath uni is a really friendly environment to be in. There's so much going on that you'll never be bored or short of things to try out or do."
"Sports and societies are huge on campus and are a great way to meet people. I would definitely recommend joining a sports team, even if you have never played before as there are a huge range of abilities and it is so social."
"The clubs are very welcoming and there are showcases so that people can get an idea of what the clubs do and what's available. You can get involved with as much or as little as you like, you can compete against other universities or just attend communal sessions."
"There are many different types of societies and sports clubs to choose from. Being involved in a society helps me to make new friends from outside my course and we are very close as a club as we often have socials."
"Sports clubs are great and there is a fantastic society structure also."
"There are lots of sports clubs to get involved in. It's easy to be a social member but you can also compete at a high level."
