University of Bath
Please comment on the support you’ve had from the careers services, the type of employers that present and recruit on campus, the effectiveness of the alumni network, as well as fairs and on-campus recruitment activity.
"Placements are commonplace for Bath students and there is a lot of support for those who choose to do one. The careers services are very helpful and always happy to read through any CVs or covering letters you are thinking of sending off. Most departments also arrange information sessions about finding careers/placements and also have a placements officer who is dedicated to helping their students find a placement. My placement officer helped me to secure my placement and I then had a follow-up Skype to check how I was finding it while I was there. There are lots of very good careers fairs on campus with a wide variety of well-known and lesser-known companies. The university also organises recruitment fairs to help graduating students to secure a job after university. There are also networking events with big brands such as Mars. The careers services offer face-to-face and online support with webinars, Skype meetings, face-to-face meetings and a careers search tool on their website."
"All the student jobs on campus pay the living wage. We often have careers fairs that help us to network and think about what we want for our future career. The careers service runs workshops and events most days, from CV writing to interview practice, and drop ins are available too. The placement year is a big part of degree courses at Bath and most students go on one, which I like because it means no degree is the same and all have a different draw from an employer's point of view."
"You can get plenty of support preparing CVs and job applications. The university has links to companies in industry and a lot of placement options."

"I got a lot of support when looking for a placement year with many companies only advertising to Bath students for their placement schemes. There are always loads of careers presentations on campus from top employers such as Goldman Sachs and EY. My placement put me in an extremely good position for looking for a graduate job and I was able to secure a top graduate scheme within a few months of searching. I cannot recommend doing the placement enough."
"The careers services regularly have events, talks and fairs every month. They also have offices you can drop into to talk about your concerns and help you devise plans of what you want to do next. At Bath, a large proportion of students take on a year in industry or a professional placement that helps students to gain many transferable and more specific skills. The different departments are very encouraging during the placement year, sending emails to you to check that you are well."
"Plenty of support is provided. There are numerous careers fairs, conferences and workshops. Individual appointments are also provided."
"There have been many careers events advertised to all students and many career fairs. I was even able to undertake a mock interview with a top firm, which really boosted my confidence. The careers service is fantastic and appointments with them are available daily."
"Careers services offer workshops on how to write a CV and cover letter as well as how to prepare for interviews. Departments conduct mock interviews for students as well. There are a couple of career fairs throughout the year, where employers from prestigious companies visit campus to talk to students."
"Careers service is absolutely excellent with loads of employers coming to visit etc. The placement system is very well supported."
"The university has a great careers service and the faculty also has a department that supports us when we're looking for placements."
