Careers services

Please comment on the support you’ve had from the careers services, the type of employers that present and recruit on campus, the effectiveness of the alumni network, as well as fairs and on-campus recruitment activity.

"The careers centre is quite good and they helped me to get a job for my placement year. Overall, I didn't find the academic stuff very useful but choosing to do a placement year was the best option for me and I recommend it for everyone. I think that universities should even make it compulsory as experience is one of the most desired attributes these days. I have friends who have had difficulties getting jobs after graduation as they only thing they had on their CVs from their university was a degree."
"I do feel prepared for a job due to the skills learned, the development I've made as a person and the amount of job-like situations I have had to deal with at uni."
"I've had advice from lecturers throughout my course about how to pursue my career. The alumni network is great and all the postgraduates will give advice on interviews and areas in which your degree can and will be interesting. There are always fairs on, including career fairs and volunteer fairs as well."
"The individual CV and application letter writing appointments were perfect for me because they taught me how to produce my CV for a preferred job. The placement team also sends us job opportunities relating to our studies so we can gain experience and they hold events where we are invited to meet employers who are seeking students to work with after school. This gave me many opportunities to meet and chat with top employers in London."
"Careers services are always open to everyone either through drop-in sessions or appointments. They have a lot of advice to give along with more than enough reading material. They also hold CV workshops, revision workshops and marketability workshops."
"The careers service is brilliant with tips for interviews and mentoring schemes. There's also a talent bank where the university hires its own students before looking elsewhere whenever possible."
"They have provided a lot of help in getting jobs. It's also helpful that we can get tips on CVs and cover letters."
"There have been different events where one can make connections and find work opportunities."
"There are many job fairs etc on campus and the services and extracurricular activities prepare you well."
