University of Sheffield

About the institution

Founded in 1904, The University of Sheffield has grown to become one of the UK´s leading universities with a global reputation for world-class teaching and research excellence.

A member of the Russell Group of research-led institutions, our approach inspires innovative collaboration across subject areas and with individuals, businesses and organisations to solve the more pressing problems we face, both close to home and around the world.

Sheffield invests millions to create the right environment for students. That means the best equipment and facilities – and the freedom for students to do things their own way.

Our award-winning Students' Union recently had a £5 million renovation and we've now refurbished the neighbouring building to create a combined space with top–class services and facilities for staff, students and visitors.

Our Management School has moved into a redesigned and refurbished 21st-century research and learning environment. And we have two new major buildings with flexible study facilities: the £21 million Pam Liversidge Building for engineering and The Diamond.

The city

Sheffield is a city like no other. A city of stunning landscapes – the greenest in Europe, creative, welcoming, stubbornly independent, rich in culture and history, but with a modern outlook and a million things to see and do.

On top of all the other good things about Sheffield, it's an easy place to get to. Sheffield is on all the mainline train routes across the UK. The National Express nationwide coach service has connections from around the country. And there are trams that run across the city all day making it easy to get around.

Whatever your interests, Sheffield offers something for everyone – from sport, culture and entertainment, to shopping, nightlife and, a warm welcome!
