Careers services

Please comment on the support you’ve had from the careers services, the type of employers that present and recruit on campus, the effectiveness of the alumni network, as well as fairs and on-campus recruitment activity.

"I have regular placements through my course that are provided by the uni and are helpful in preparing me for a job."
"The careers services on campus provide a wide range of services from CV clinics to mock interviews aimed at building students' employability skills. The university also organises several job fairs on campus as well as providing information for local job fairs where students can meet recruiters. There is an employment agency that offers part-time and full-time jobs to students."
"Through placements, we are given the opportunity to learn in settings as well as being taught by lecturers who have actually had experience in different jobs within their field of study."
"There are brilliant services for getting support in CV writing, job hunting and general preparation for employment. These services are easily accessible."
"There are always employability fairs happening with employers and ex-graduates coming in to talk about their experiences and how they got the job."
"The careers services are exceptional and help you through the employment process, from building up your CV to helping you find the most suitable job. There are also employability fairs that showcase various companies coming in to talk about different opportunities, especially graduate jobs. There are many placements available to those that study nursing, for example. Furthermore, there are apprenticeships available for those who graduate."

"They gave us a lot of opportunities to gain experience outside of university at different events with different companies."
"There are lots of placements available."
"They have a careers office on campus that provides a variety of events you can take part in and I also get emails about vacancies within the area."
"People (including famous writers and editors) have come to talk to us about jobs and careers."
"The university runs a regular employability fair and has an employability week every year. They also do a 'subject futures week' for any creative courses that take place on Avenue Campus. There are always people who work within the university available to talk to about future jobs and careers."
"My placement has been amazing and really gave me a feeling for the real world of work."
"We have had a two-hour session on possible jobs and how to look for them. Apart from that, I don't think there has been much more. There were career fairs but there wasn't much to prepare you for a less mainstream job."
