University of Essex
How would you rate your university towns night life?
5.5 / 10
(based on ratings in 2016)
"We have Sub Zero, which is the on-campus club. It's fine and can be good but gets repetitive. Atik is only good on Fridays but a pain to get to without a taxi."
"Colchester can be a very dodgy town that feels unsafe during the day, let alone night."
"There are some places to go but most of them close early and the variety is not good. It's more like a quiet town. Three Wise Monkeys and The Slug and Lettuce are the best choices. There are some choices for clubbing too but don't expect too much."
"Imperial Wetherspoons is very popular among students and locals. It's very close to campus so many societies meet here."
"There are a lot of clubs and pubs in town but most people just stick to the campus nightlife."
"We have a few nightclubs but there's not much locally."
"There are places around to go shopping and there's also a Rollerworld and a gym."
"There are only a few pubs nearby."
"There are clubs and a cinema as well as places to eat and hang out."
"Very average. There are places like Liquid, Yates, Missoula, Cube and Hudsons that you can go to. Hudsons is the most expensive of them all. Liquid is where older people go and Missoula tends to be full of teenagers."
