Careers services

Please comment on the support you’ve had from the careers services, the type of employers that present and recruit on campus, the effectiveness of the alumni network, as well as fairs and on-campus recruitment activity.

"There is a vast amount of information, though it is a very impersonal service and it can sometimes be difficult to digest all the information in a short time period. This can make your choices for a career path a bit difficult."
"I haven't found the careers service that helpful. There are good links to guest speakers through my course."
"The careers services have been good to me. I have chosen a course that provides two industrial placements (pending market conditions in the oil and gas industry). I have undertaken a 14-week placement during the summer as a subsea engineer for a world-leading drilling company. This should hopefully lead onto a second placement and then a job."
"There is an on-site placement office in the business school and alumni are quite involved within the uni. The lecturers are always sharing placement, work experience and job opportunities with students."
"The careers service is very helpful. However, the careers fairs don't offer much for science students."

"Careers services help with CVs and cover letters. They also email you prospective jobs and have a drop-in service."
"Careers service do their best to help candidates find placements. I was lucky enough to secure a placement for my 3rd year."
"We have had a number of employability workshops offered to us as well as copious opportunities to get involved in activities that will strengthen our employability skills (placements, Erasmus, volunteering, participation in societies etc)."
"Alumni are constantly checking in to keep us up to date at the university and there are regular updates about new jobs via email."
"Excellent careers services. It's very helpful with well-prepared consultants. There aren't many career fairs and recruitment days, though."
"There's a large number of career fairs along with excellent services for help with CVs and interviews."
"There are many services available at the university for students who are considering employment in their area. Robert Gordon's University is known for its high employability rate for graduates."
"There are loads of career fairs and on-campus events to get involved in and increase your awareness of what jobs are on offer and what it is that specific companies do. We have an excellent careers office that you can go and get advice from too."
"We have a dedicated career team. They give seminars periodically and provide drop-in sessions and online chats."
"Our placements really set us up for future jobs. It's nice to have the contacts to move forward after graduation."
