We're hiring motivated apprentice paralegals for our Bristol office. You'll combine on-the-job training with classroom learning at the University of Law. The two-year programme will lead to qualification as a paralegal. You'll get involved in a range of tasks in support of our lawyers, and have the opportunity on qualification to begin the solicitor apprenticeship programme with us.

We number around 700 people, almost 150 of whom are based in Bristol. We opened here in 2012. The Bristol office has grown rapidly, with ambitious plans to keep developing.

You will be positioned within our RPC Choice team in Bristol. RPC Choice was set up in 2014 to provide a central service to the firm, with a focus on employing process, technology and junior resource to deliver efficiencies to clients and to RPC.

As an apprentice paralegal, you will get exposure to a wide range of legal work. Alongside your formal study with the University of Law, you will support practice areas across RPC, covering both litigation and transactional matters. Typically, you will handle:

  • File opening and closure (including dealing with outstanding financial matters and sending files to storage)
  • Running Know Your Client, money laundering and conflict checks for team members' claims and professional indemnity matters
  • Updating case management systems
  • Document review exercises
  • Drafting invoices
  • General admin duties such as:
    • filing
    • printing and photocopying of documents
    • preparing letters
    • producing correspondence and reports
    • preparing files and bundles
    • attending meetings and producing attendance notes
  • Capturing and collating required Management Information — for performance management, client reporting, service level agreements (SLAs), pricing and other purposes

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE Maths and English: A-C
  • A Levels: ABB (obtained or predicted)
