About this organisation
Pathways to Property was launched in 2012, and the project works with young people to provide information about the vast range of careers in the property industry and to signpost the different routes into a career within the sector. There are a huge variety of different careers available working in ‘property’, far more than many people realise, and Pathways to Property aims to highlight the exciting and inspiring opportunities available in the industry.
Pathways to Property has very strong support from the industry which means that the students we work with have the opportunity to hear from people working within the property sector about their jobs and experiences. We deliver talks in schools and colleges, attend careers fairs and run an annual Summer School for year 12 students at the end of July each year. The students who attend the Pathways to Property Summer School have the opportunity to learn about careers in property, explore current themes in property, and meet and work with industry professionals from some of the leading firms in the UK.
For students who have attended the Summer School, Pathways to Property offers them the opportunity to apply for a week long work experience placement with a real estate or planning firm, the chance to take part in an e-mentoring programme with undergraduate real estate students at the University of Reading, and a welcome bursary and possible further financial support for students who enrol on a Real Estate and Planning course at the University of Reading.
Previous students who attended the Summer School are now studying or working in the property sector with some choosing the university route and others completing an apprenticeship. There are so many exciting roles within the property sector, and Pathways to Property aims to raise awareness of these opportunities.
