Clifford Chance

At Clifford Chance, we’re proud to be founding members of PRIME, a scheme that’s helping to widen access to the legal profession and ensure that young people across the UK have an equal chance, regardless of their background. It levels the playing field by offering young people work experience at some of the most prestigious law firms around.

What you’ll do

On the Clifford Chance PRIME scheme, you’ll spend four days at our Canary Wharf HQ in London, learning about all the different areas of law we practise in. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to learn from lawyers at every level of our organisation, from seasoned partners to current trainees. You’ll also hear about opportunities outside commercial law from a visiting barrister.

Over the course of the scheme, you’ll find out just what a career in law involves, and what opportunities it can offer you. You’ll also be able to practise your presentation skills and do mock interviews with detailed, one-on-one feedback. And after a successful week with us, not only will we keep in touch throughout your journey to university and beyond; we’ll even give you your own mentor to help you achieve your aspirations.

Thanks to our work with the Legal Social Mobility Partnership (LSMP), as well as doing work experience with us, you’ll also be able to spend another week at four major organisations across London, such as ITV, Amazon and Harlequins FC.

What we’re looking for

To apply for PRIME at Clifford Chance, you’ll need to be in state school and in Year 12 to Year 13 (England and Wales), S5 to S6 (Scotland), or Lower and Upper Sixth (Northern Ireland). You’ll also need to be either eligible for free school meals or from a non-university educated family.
