As BAE Systems Land (UK), we are the experts on combat vehicles and munitions used by Armed Forces across the world, extending and developing their capabilities to meet current and future requirements.
During your apprenticeship, you will gain a wide knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and learn many transferable skills including the safe maintenance and operational requirements of Small Arms Manufacturing Facility are met.
What can you expect?
This apprenticeship is a two year programme studying to complete an NVQ Level 3 in Business & Administration whilst attending college.
This two year apprenticeship will offer you the opportunity to gain experience, working in the business functions which support all of our products. Through a combination of further education and placements based at our offices, you'll gain exposure to real world business challenges that underpin our Light Munitions delivery team's operation.
At the start of the apprenticeship you will be allocated and managed by one of the following functions: Commercial, Procurement, Finance, HR, Business Development or Programmes.
This apprenticeship will see you joining Land (UK) - the part of the BAE Systems that designs and manufactures light and heavy munitions, as well as provide in-service support and upgrades for military vehicles.
What you'll need
To apply for an apprenticeship at Radway Green, you are required to have a minimum of five GCSE’s grade A*- C / 9-4 including Maths, English and a Science subject. Applicants will also be expected to be medically fit as deemed necessary to perform the role, be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance. Throughout your apprenticeship you will be given opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities such as the Apprentice Innovation Challenge. This is run in association with BAE Systems’ corporate partner charity who present a mechanical and electrical challenge to our apprentices throughout the UK. There is also the Company Ambassadors scheme in which individuals get the opportunity to go into schools and pass on the experience and knowledge which they have gained whilst working at BAE Systems.
In the second year of the apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to take part in the Outward Bound programme. This consists of a week in the Lake District along with other apprentices from different parts of the business where you will learn the importance of team building and trust.
Personal Development is actively encouraged by the Company and individuals will be given the opportunity to attend courses and develop skills in their trade. In some cases those showing outstanding commitment and promise can be supported through management qualifications and, dependent upon business requirements, through to degree level and beyond once your apprenticeship is completed.
