Within Customer Services, In-Service Support are responsible for any Airbus aircraft across the whole fleet; to support both current production aircraft and an ageing fleet. Customer Services Engineering Apprentices will provide technical support to both suppliers and internal Customer Services colleagues.

As a Customer Services Engineering Apprentice at Airbus you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Aeronautical
Engineering, as well as a Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Technical Support, on completion of our 40 month programme. Customer Services Engineering Apprentices study at City of Bristol College to achieve their qualifications, and their industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Filton, Bristol.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your first year on the Customer Services Engineering Apprenticeship programme will be spent completing the Level 2 Foundation course in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. You will then go on to develop your skill and technical knowledge through a combination of college study and on the job work and training.

Alongside your studies you can expect to undertake a number of work placements at Airbus within the following areas of Customer Services:

  • Systems and structural maintenance
  • Service bulletin for modifications
  • Ground support tooling
  • Technical data
  • Spares Engineering

In addition to your work placements and studies, apprentices will have a number of valuable training opportunities covering a variety of subjects (e.g. quality, supply chain, repair solutions, design) as well as ad-hoc project work from a variety of sources worldwide.

Part of the future role of a Customer Services Engineering Apprentice will involve working with suppliers to establish an understanding of capability and manufacturing capacity, and become familiar with the variety of manufacturing techniques.

Required skills

In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship candidate must have a minimum of:

Six GCSEs at Grade C or 4, which must include Maths, English Language and Science (core and additional, or physics if taken as separate subjects)
