The Supply Chain organisation at Airbus manages a base of hundreds of external suppliers responsible for the parts and materials utilised during the wing manufacture process for all aircraft programmes in Broughton, and A400M in Filton. Our Supply Chain Business Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain valuable experience within this vital department, supporting the wide range of innovative aircraft produced by Airbus.
As a Business Apprentice on the Supply Chain programme you will gain a Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Level 4, 5 and 6 Certificate on completion of the three to four year programme. Throughout the course of the apprenticeship you will also acquire an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 4 Diploma in Principles of Leadership & Management, and an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Management.
This apprenticeship is delivered via a combination of college based study and on-the-job at Airbus. You’ll study via Bangor University, at Coleg Cambria to achieve your qualifications, and your industry based work takes place at our world leading aircraft manufacturer site in Broughton, North Wales.
Tasks & accountabilities
During your industry based work at Airbus our Supply Chain Apprentices work alongside key stakeholders within the Supply team, as well as internal and external suppliers. Your role will be varied, giving you the opportunity for hands on experience of working within a range of departments which support the construction of the Aircraft Wings, such as Industrial Planning, Lean Management, Procurement, Purchasing, and Supply Chain Logistics, as well as other Business functions.
Supply Chain Apprentices assist the sales orders process; liaising with our customers as well as other departments within the company to support achievement of site and company-wide objectives of ensuring that all sales orders are processed quickly and effectively in accordance with customer requirements.
In addition, during your apprenticeship you can expect to support a range of other activities including:
- Liaising with transport and production departments
- Accurate reporting, maintenance, and update of vital company records, databases and project data to help make key business decisions
- Working alongside an experienced manager to provide support to one or more of our many current live projects
- Key Stakeholder management whilst working on numerous projects and planning activities
In addition to your work placements and studies, there are a number of valuable training opportunities that cover a variety of subjects as well as encouraging you to get involved in extra-curricular education and community projects to broaden your experience and help you develop both your professional and personal skills along the way.
In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship, candidates must have a minimum of:
- Two A Levels at grade B, including Business Studies and a related subject such as IT, Economics, English Language or Maths.
- Six GCSEs at grade C or 4, or above, which must include Maths and English Language.
- Alternatively a Business BTEC Extended Diploma at grade triple Distinction can be accepted as an alternative to the two A-Levels.
