AECOM

About this organisation

With nearly 100,000 employees worldwide — including engineers, designers, planners, scientists, surveyors, architects, and management and construction services professionals — serving clients in more than 150 countries, AECOM is a premier, fully integrated infrastructure and support services firm.

AECOM is ranked as the #1 engineering design firm by revenue in Engineering News-Record magazine’s annual industry rankings.  We are a leader in all of the key markets that we serve, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, oil and gas, water, high-rise buildings and government.

AECOM provides a blend of global reach, local knowledge, innovation and technical excellence in delivering solutions that create, enhance and sustain the world's built, natural and social environments.  We bring together creative, technical and management specialists to work on projects at every scale.

We engineer energy-efficient buildings and build new links between cities. We design new communities and regenerate existing ones. We are the first whole environments business, going beyond buildings and infrastructure.

A Fortune 500 company, AECOM companies, including URS, had revenue of $19.2 billion during the 12 months ended June 30, 2014. AECOM invests heavily in the quality of our apprentice programme and the opportunities it provides. Of course we do — it is designed to equip our future leaders and technical experts.

AECOM currently has more than 200 apprentices & trainees across the UK & Ireland, learning from some of the most talented and renowned experts in their field, bringing fresh approaches and further diversifying our workforce.

Our Structured Training Excellence Programme (STEP) is designed to recruit school-leavers who show commitment, aptitude and enthusiasm, into science, engineering and technology careers with us. You will combine work-based on-the-job training and learning with further studies and must be willing to progress your career. After an initial probationary period you must be willing to undertake a day release course at a Further Education College to study a BTEC Level 3 or HND in a relevant discipline which would be funded by AECOM. Your NVQ Level 3 will be achieved during this time through your work experience.Driven by the successful completion of BTEC Level 3 or a HND the successful applicant may want to continue their studies at a higher level. AECOM fully expects this and is keen to develop and nurture its talent. For those wishing to progress their education AECOM may continue to support individuals through an appropriate part-time BSc/BEng degree course to support you towards Incorporated Engineer status.

As a company AECOM are responding fast to the fact that since we live in an interconnected and challenging world, new thinking is called for. The global population is growing, yet resources are finite and carbon emissions are already way too high. AECOM gets the bigger picture, uniting clever ingenuity with global experience. Our focus is to realise our clients’ boldest ambitions. So, where do you see yourself?
